Please keep in mind that the way the airflow works on a dynavap means that FRESH air will be coming in the airport and passing by the wood interior, this is then heated by the tip and flows down the condenser through the mouthpiece. So in reality there should be very little reclaim or buildup on the wood itself, with the exception of some possible minor buildup near the end of the condenser.
What does this mean, generally the wood will not get dirty as fast as the tip and condenser and will likely need to be cleaned less often.
Wood can be tricky and we don't want it to dry out and crack, or get too moist and swell up. So proper maintenance and storage is key for their longevity.
Cleaning wood devices (this also includes wooden stashes)
Do's:
- Use mild soap (dawn) and warm water.
- Use a damp rag with the soap solution to clean
- Use a q-tip with the soap solution to clean
- Use a small brush with the soap solution to clean
Don'ts
- Don't use alcohol (ISO)
- Don't submerge in water or any liquid
- Dont put in dishwasher
- Don't use an ultrasonic cleaner
- Dont clean with hot steam
Once the device is clean, allow it to completely dry. Once dry the wood should be conditioned so it does not dry out. We recommend DynaWax or mineral oil. That's it, additional occasional application of more DynaWax or mineral oil is recommended to preserve the wood.
